I Bet Suri Doesn't Even Have This!

Hi all, Lash here. Check out my new toy chest designed, crafted, and hand-delivered by Nana and Jim. Can you say awesome? I couldn't put a finger on it but I knew my room was missing something. When they carted this sucker in, I knew that my prayers had been answered. I'm willing to bet not even celebrity babies have their own monogrammed toy chest! That's right baby Suri, you may be the genetic offspring of Ron L. Hubbard but where's your personalized chiffonier? And you can keep your gigantic, creepy moon Max Aguilera, when it comes to class, I've got you in spades! Anyhow, I'd just like to say THANKS to Nana and Jim and let them know that this chest and I shall never be parted (at least until I'm much, much older :).

Nana's Visit! (Among Other Things...)

Last weekend Nana and Jim drove down from Washington (via Arizona) to visit our little family. As you can see, Nana and baby Mols hit it off and got on like old friends. Nana and Jim were lucky enough to experience Molly's delightful squealing at many Redondo Beach brunch locals. But in the end, they have Lash a BB rating (Best Baby). We think so too!

In other Molly news:
- Lash is sitting up! For the past couple of weeks Molly has been sitting like a champion. Her world view, she relates, is much improved.
- Lash is creeping (a little). For the baby novice, creeping is not when she climbs out of her crib and scares us when we get up to go to the bathroom. Rather, it is when she uses her back legs to push herself around like an inchworm.
- Lash is eating lots of stuff! Yes the baby has now sampled peas, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples, and pears. She likes most of it (except peas - see prior video).
- Lash says "Da-da-da-da-da" over and over again. I am so pleased! Except that she says it to Mom too... and the cats... and her teething ring...

Super Duper Tuesday!

Mama, Dad, and Lash were at the polls Tuesday to cast their votes for Democratic hopeful Barack Obama. Mols, hidden discretely beneath Dad's pea coat, resisted pressure from the notorious GB (Grandma Baltau) to vote for Hillary and successfully punched her vote for hope and change. (The chad, for those who are wondering, did not hang but fell clear and free). At the debriefing, between mouthfuls of sweet potatoes, Lash rationalized that while a vote for hope and change may seem hollow and trite on the surface, it was in fact based upon the precept that both optimism and revolution are quintessential values of the democratic archetype. Furthermore, that the amalgamation "hopechange" is an anagram for "Peach Hen Go" which just so happens to be a line from one of Molly's favorite bedtime stories...

More Molly at Six Months (continued...)

Dad maneuvered to get Mols close to her cake - but not too close! Just after this particular picture was taken, Molly succeeded in sticking her mitts into the cake when Dad was talking to GB (Grandma Baltau). Disaster was narrowly averted when Mom's quick hands stopped the wonder baby from placing the frosting in her mouth. Can you imagine what terrible fate would have befallen our tiny heroine? Perhaps a tiny smile at her first taste of sugar... (Mom is not finding this amusing).

Molly was also fascinated with the candle (note that it is extinguished in this and later photos). She seemed to think that grabbing the flame would make all her birthday wishes come true... That being said, if her wish is to have lit candles on this or future cakes - she will be very disappointed.

Molly Lash is Six Months Old!

Wow! It feels like Molly arrived just yesterday and here we already are at the half year mark! It is truly unbelievable how quickly the time has passed. It seems like just yesterday we brought the mini Lash home and now here we are with a ittle person who sits up on her own, has likes (the plastic dragonfly), dislikes (peas and sweet potatoes), and lots of interesting things to say (dada, mama, and of course AHH-GOO!). Not to mention that today, when we woke her up to celebrate her important chronological milestone, there was tiny TOOTH sticking out of her little, pink gums! Truly, will the wonders never cease?

Molly took the tooth in stride (after we dosed her up with Children's Tylenol she was feeling no pain) and was fully able to enjoy her half birthday festivities. Dad, in a fit of Martha Stewartness, baked her a little cake which looked kind of cute but tasted like sawdust. Lucky for Molly, she was not allowed to eat any...
